For anyone wondering why I posted a new picture of myself, I had weight loss surgery 5 weeks ago, July 15. I've fought my weight for 56 years and couldn't stand it any longer. I was morbid obese, believe it or not, but I was. I had bariatric gastric sleeve surgery, where 80% of my stomach is taken out. I researched various weight loss surgeries and options, and this is the one I decided on. I had my surgery in Austin, TX by Dr. Nancy Marquez at Southwest Bariatrics, and I'd refer anyone to her. She's the greatest. Surgery was very easy for me, I'm down 1 clothes size, have lost about 30 pounds, and feel great. I'm still learning what foods work for me and which ones don't. I take my vitamins and get plenty of protein and water each day. For some reason sugary food and fatty food don't agree with me anymore, how great is that? They don't even sound good anymore. Thank you Lord for taking that craving away from me.
The wonderful husband Alan and the new me are planning on canoeing an expedition next summer on the Wild and Scenic Upper Missouri River. It's not really wild and scenic. It's named that because it's the last natural section of river we have in the United States and it's protected. So I spend time researching canoes and outfitting gear for our expedition. It should take us 10 to 14 days to run that section of the river. And besides that trip, Alan and I want to canoe lakes and campout more, not just motorhome. So that's our new adventure!

4 weeks since surgery
These pictures are awful. Alan and I tried several times to take better pictures. Guess it was the subject. But I've promised Marce and LaRue I'd post something so here are the pics. I'll try and post again in a week, which will be 6 weeks since surgery. Just for the record, Alan said this is the last summer he'll stay in
Texas if he can help it. The heat and humidity has been unbearable.
Till next time. From sea to shining sea.....Texas if he can help it. The heat and humidity has been unbearable.
