another day, another mile

Today I shuffled (jogged/walked) pushing my granddaughter, Sadie. Yeah, I finished day 3 of training! I used a jogging stroller, and it was harder than I thought it would be! The slight inclines in the neighborhood felt like mountains. I'm still shuffling the 60 seconds/walking the 90 seconds. In fact, I think I'll try it again tomorrow without the stoller, then the next day I'll move up to week 2 of the training program. Here's a picture of me and the set up I pushed today.

This is not a pretty picture but at least I'm trying. And as you can see I had pig tails! Since no one in the neighborhood knows me, I figured I could get away with it. I can't believe I'm smiling in that picture! I had just completed my walk and I was trying to catch my breath. But I did it!

Jogging, running, shuffling

I've always wanted to be a runner. I've always wanted to be thought of as a jogger, as a runner. So far I can be thought of as a shuffler. It's a start. A 20 minute shuffler. I'm going to sign up to run in a 5K in April. I'm using the training program 'From the Couch to a 5K'. Appropriate, huh? I'm still helping Judy everyday with lifting Sadie--she has 2 1/2 more weeks until she can lift her. So far I shuffle during Sadie's nap time, but today I might shuffle with her in the jogging stroller. I'll keep this updated on my progress. Maybe I can add pictures--so far I don't look very cool running. But one day I hope to look really cool in my jogging clothes. I see so many joggers and they all look so good running on a path or trail. One day, one day.
I'm managing this training only because God is with me. He wants me to be healthy, to glorify Him. I strive to be more like Jesus, and having a healthy body is one way I can do that. Keep me in your prayers please! I need encouragement!
