St. Ignatius, Montana

Most of you know by now that we purchased some land here in St. Ignatius, MT just north of Missoula. It's in the Mission Valley, south of Glacier National Park. Our tiny acreage is at the foothills of he Mission Mountains, and we're on Tribal Land, Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. It's also near Amish, German Baptist, and Mennonite communities. We love it here. We will continue to come here in the summers and back to Texas in winterto see grandkids. Oh we miss our grandkids! On our property there are some trees on the east end, and on the west end is this snag pine tree. We've been told it's a roost for spring Eagles. Right now the Magpies have made it home. It's dangerous because over half of it is dead and it's leaning. We can't keep it. Today was the day to have it cut down. We decided since we couldn't leave it up, we'd have it taken to the local Amish saw mill and have it made into board feet. We'll hopefully install it in a building on this property. So in a way we're keeping it. Below are some pictures of the tree and having it cut down. By the way, the man is Amish and he brings his sons with him. they can't drive, but he goes everywhere in his little Bobcat! We see him all the time riding in it from job to job. He has every attachment imaginable. Mr. Yoder's a hard worker and we love it when we comes to our place.

Babies and other things wonderful

Here's grandbaby #6. Brandt weighed in at a whopping 9 lbs 11 oz.! He was breech, which is amazing that Heidi lived through all the back pain associated with a breech baby. She ended up having a c-section, but the nurses all said she was a champ and were saying how focused she was during labor. Way to go Heidi!
Isn't he beautiful? His hair is beautiful strawberry blonde.
This is what all parents desire for their newborn---sleep, sleep, sleep. NEVER wake a sleeping child. Remember that!

Here's one day's harvest of yellow crookneck squash and the 2nd cherry tomato. Alan ate the first one. He said it was like eating candy.

My favorite picture of all time is above. This is the funniest picture to me. Judy, Sadie and Tessa helped with the garden while we were in Franklin, TN. Morgan got to hold our first squash. She's our little Squash Blossom.

here I am

Here's my sewing machine set up in the hotel room we're staying in. I brought everything I need to make quilt blocks for Byron and Heather's signature quilt for their wedding. I'm enjoying listening to my music and sewing in the room. I also brought my IPOD dock!
And here's a tiny picture of baby Morgan. Isn't she darling? Judy sent me this from her phone. I think Morgi just woke up from a good nap while in her car seat.
And here's a picture of a news woman of how I want my hair to look. I love this hair do. It may be outdated, I don't know, but it's what I wish my hair looked like. I found the pic in my photo archives and thought I'd put it in here for filler. Hah!
I don't know how to make the pictures bigger. I tried and couldn't do it. Sorry they're so small.
I don't have much to write about. Except we're on our way to Heidi and Todd's, waiting for the new baby boy! He's due to make his appearance Friday the 29th, same date as the Royal Wedding. But only God knows when he'll make his appearance. We're so excited about it. Just think, a new person will be here in a few days. Wow.
til later. From sea to shining sea....

Pictures from January

Here's a photo of us in Maui. I don't have many pics of us, but this one turned out. Below this picture is the sunset from our balcony at the hotel. The sunsests were so beautiful. Alan sat on our balcony every day and watched whales breeching. Talk about close! It was a magnificent time.

Until next time. From sea to shining sea.....

Just an update

A quilt for LaRue. This quilt reminded me of the gardens she and Adam plant around their home, plus the wild vegetation area down by Finley Creek.

Here's her quilt label.

A Valentine's Day apron for Marce. It's not pink but the print is her color. The hearts remind me of chocolate covered cherries. Yum! Wear your pearls with this one and have love in your heart as your clean the house! You're never underdressed when you wear pearls!

Here's a recent photo of me with granddaughter Sadie. Bad pic of both of us. But for me it's size 14 Old Navy jeans. Woohoo!
That's all I have right now. Until later.

ga-ga and the new grandbaby

After looking at this picture, I realized how old fashioned my hairdo is! How ugly! It looks like I should put a little bow right in the middle of my part, like in the 60s. I'll have to work on this. But besides the bad picture of me, baby Morgan is so sweet. I'm helping Judy at her house each week since she had a c-section, so I stay pretty busy. So this is all I have for now. More later.
